District 9: Peter Jackson knows the secret language of my heart and is not ashamed to abuse it to further his own devious intentions.

It’s trailers like this that get my gargantuan geek antennae twittering in anticipation. District 9 is Peter Jackson’s faithful sidekick Neill Blomkamp’s directorial debut and looks to be one of the better science fiction offerings of 2009. I just hope the climatic conclusion features aliens cuddling Guantánamo Bay style (too soon?).

Anyways, Blomkamp directed a truly awesome short film called Tempbot about a robotic office worker (think SCUD: The Disposable Assasin, but with way more TPS reports). Tempbot is about fourteen minutes long, so if you clicker finger starts to get itchy just try to remember how much time you waisted downloading porn surfing the information super highway on a 14k modem.

My favorite part is when the chubby guy in the cool kid glasses says ”End of day! Fox and Brurgen! Drinks on me!” (Where was this guy when I was a soulless office drone?)! Well, that part and the implied robot sexuality.*
*while I was writing this I couldn’t help but notice the air conditioning unit’s heavy breathing.
I’m giving Tempbot the finger three times for the really solid CGI , but i’m pretty sure the soundtrack was put together by a deaf schizophrenic on an ipod shuffle.
